[Iced coffee. . . one of my favorite things] sheila mckay photography | charlotte nc

Have I told you lately how much I love iced coffee?  Or just coffee in general.  No, it is not the addiction to caffeine, because I cannot tolerate caffeine and do my best to stay away from it – only decaffeinated coffee, tea, and soda for me.  I just love the flavor of coffee.

And it looks as though, my daughter has the same taste bud as I do.  I cannot keep enough around for the two of us.

Well, I must share one of my favorite things to make my iced coffee.  I know, some of you are thinking.  Make a pot of coffee and put it on ice right?  I thought the same thing, but  I tried that and it doesn’t taste the same.   I have found a brewing system that makes the perfect carafe of coffee – it is creamy, smooth, and bold and is perfect hot or cold.  It brews the perfect Toddy

This is how it works.  First, get your favorite coffee.  In my case it is Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts decaffeinated of course, but any coursely ground coffee will work.   I grabbed the only coffee I had at the time and I really don’t think I would have been able to tell the difference.  You let me know.

This is the brewing system.  It includes a carafe, a filter, coffee basket, and stopper.

Pretty simple – just place the stopper and the filter into the coffee basket and then place approximately 1 pound of coursely ground coffee into the basket as well.

Then pour approximately 9 cups of water over the coffee grounds.  Let the coffee basket sit for 12 hours – then pull the stopper from the bottom of the coffee basket and place on top of the carafe and wait for your delicious coffee to drip.

Now, just pour coffee and milk to taste.  I like to add a smidgen of vanilla syrup!  Enjoy!
